Military Campaign Poster

Americans were outraged at the horrific Death March which made this military campaign poster effective. Americans found out about the Bataan Death March in 1944, when posters and newspapers all over the country started printing “Revenge! The Nation Demands It!” The Bataan Death March also caused war bonds to go up in price. The United States also focused more on the Pacific war with Japan as a result of the Bataan Death March. News got to the United States by ten escapees who revealed the horrors of the Death March (Duffy). Another effect of the Bataan Death March was that the U.S. demanded an unconditional surrender after the war was over (“Militarism and WW2”). Also, the Americans that escaped joined a significant resistance movement in the Philippines who practiced mostly guerilla warfare (“Capture and March”).
